St Pierre Cathedral

Geneva adopted the Reformation in 1536 and Calvin preached here for most of the next 28 years, turning the city into what John Knox called the most perfect school of Christ since the apostles. The interior was stripped of images; his plain wooden chair remains in the north aisle. Beneath the nave, one of Europe's largest urban archaeological sites exposes fourth-century baptisteries and Allobrogian burials.
