Wittenberg Castle Church

Luther, then a professor at the university here, objected to the sale of indulgences funding St Peter's in Rome. Whether he hammered or merely mailed the theses is still argued; the church door was the university noticeboard either way. Luther and Melanchthon are both buried inside. The town preserves the Luther House, the largest Reformation museum in the world, in the former Augustinian monastery where he lived.
