Pool of Siloam
The stone pool where Jesus told a blind man to wash his eyes. Workers found it again by accident in 2004.
Biblical significance
For centuries the Pool of Siloam was assumed to be a small Byzantine basin. Then a sewer repair on the southern slope of the City of David struck ancient steps, and archaeologists uncovered a monumental Second Temple pool fed by Hezekiah's Tunnel.
This is where the man born blind washed the mud from his eyes and came back seeing, and where pilgrims purified themselves before climbing the stepped street to the Temple. Excavation continues, and the full pool is gradually being opened to visitors.

Spring and autumn; the site is open and hot at midday in summer.
Visitor notes
Entered through the City of David park at the lower end of Hezekiah's Tunnel. Combine with the pilgrimage road tunnel walking up toward the Western Wall.
