Straight Street, Damascus

The Via Recta still runs east to west through old Damascus, a straight Roman decumanus now roofed as a market. Luke names it precisely: the house of Judas on the street called Straight, where Saul sat blind for three days until Ananias came and called him brother.

Nearby stand the traditional House of Ananias, a small underground chapel, and the section of city wall where disciples lowered Paul in a basket to escape.
