Damascus, Syria
Straight Street, Damascus
The Roman high street where Ananias found the blinded Saul and the persecutor became an apostle.
Biblical significance
The Via Recta still runs east to west through old Damascus, a straight Roman decumanus now roofed as a market. Luke names it precisely: the house of Judas on the street called Straight, where Saul sat blind for three days until Ananias came and called him brother.
